Christmas Beetle... love 'em!

For the benefit of my lovely blogger friend Mallory... here is my version of a Christmas beetle...

Now I know this isn't an exact 'replica' of the beetle in my last post... but I had to give it a bit of a girlfriday twist, did I not???

Is it maybe because Christmas is just around the corner that this goodwill spills forth? Wouldn't it be great if it was like this all year round?

I am inspired by all this cheer... I have made a couple of Christmas critters, now thinking I should do some more... with a Girlfriday twist.
I don't know if these beetles are anywhere else in the world, but here in Australia we know Christmas isn't too far away when these little critters appear:

They have the coolest metallic sheen on them. Well, the other night I was looking at the Christmas Beetles adorning our flyscreen door last night (pretty as they are, do they not realise to fly AWAY from the light bulb???) and I am now feeling inspired... these would make a cool bead... with a girlfriday twist of course!

Oh I better go light up then... stay tooned!
